The Amazing Shrinking Fat Girl

Better With Time!
I know, haven't written in quite a while! Unfortunately, the doctor I was using for my hCG injection prescription is no longer offering the program. So, I have been doing other things to improve myself for my sister's wedding - and for the future - since my second round ended last spring.
I'm so thankful to have found It Works! Global last year.. I feel great, I look great (according to so many friends & family!), and I have ENERGY! New Year, New Round - R2P1 Begins Now
First off, Happy New Year! It's been quite some time since my last post, and I hope this blog finds you all well, and happy :) I had hoped to start my second round of Hcg back in August of last year, but there seemed to be too much going on in the second half of 2011 to feel comfortable with committing wholeheartedly. I did manage to float within 5 lbs of my loss the whole time, until the holidays, so overall I felt successful with my first round. This new round does begin with an 11 pound gain, but I'm hopeful to shed that soon, and begin tapping into the weight left over from Round 1.
I'm currently in the middle of Load Day 1, and as I sit here and type, I'm stuffing my face with leftover apple pie from last night's New Year's Day dinner. Not my typical lunch by any means, but I'm definitely not complaining :) I know that by tomorrow I'm going to be sick of food, but I fully plan on taking advantage of these two precious days to savor as much of my favorite foods as I possibly can. Because come Wednesday, well, you know.
I plan on doing another long course, and hopefully will make it as close to 40 injections as possible. I am actually starting R2 with the Hcg leftover from R1, since I have nearly a whole prescription left. My guess, is that I'll have no less than 30 injections this round, and anything over that is a bonus.
It's a little nerve wracking stepping back into this thing, but I know I'm going to be extremely happy with the results :) Thank GOODNESS I blogged my daily food log last year. I'm definitely going to have to reread it, so I'll remember what my favorites were!
*Note - If you'd like to follow my journey from the beginning please scroll down, and start reading with "Hello, This Is Me..". I began Round 2 at the top so that it's easier for followers to find and read new posts. Thanks!

Day 2 - Round 2
Well, it's now or nothing. It's the end of my second, and last, day to load. I didn't go nuts, but I also didn't hold myself back any, either. By the way I'm feeling right now, I'd say I did a good job, lol. I'm definitely ready to start shedding these pounds, not adding any!
Because Phase 2 is so very restricting, I decided to go ahead and treat myself to a pedicure since even lotions can affect weight loss while on hcg. It was fabulously nice, and a great ending to Phase 1.
Other than that, nothing much else to report on. I haven't really decided what my meals will be this week, but all of my meat has been prepackaged and seasoned, so it should go smoothly. A big "Thanks" to all of my family and friends for their huge support, and encouragement! It really does help me to push forward, and on some days it's the only thing keeping me from giving up. So thank you, from the bottom of this {fat} girl's heart.

Day 3 - Round 2
This entry should have been posted yesterday, and I apologize for the delay :)
Today was definitely the first day of Phase 2, and I say that because you catch yourself thinking of grabbing a bite of this, or that, until you realize "Oh wait, I can't.". The first day completely plays with your mind, and especially your stomach, but thankfully I know it won't be that way for long.
I started the day off with a cup of coffee, sweetened with liquid Stevia, and added 1/2 Tbs. of milk to take the bite off. The rest of the day, I spent guzzling as much water as I could possibly hold.
For lunch, I quickly went back to one of my favorites from Round 1, and you guessed it, I had Chicken Salad :) Paired with a sliced tomato (sprinkled with salt & pepper), Melba Toast, and an orange.
At dinner I pan cooked an Eye of Round steak, and added a sliced (peeled) cucumber, Melba Toast, and a frozen strawberry lemonade.
I will say that Round 1 had me feeling like an Hcg chef, and I'm definitely going to have to get back into the routine of things. My food wasn't bad, but it definitely didn't compare to Round 1's cooking.

Day 4 - Round 2
Despite feeling a little overwhelmed by a little list of things I need to sit down and take care of (eh, I'll do it tomorrow..), I noticed an energy boost today that I've been lacking since before the holidays. One of the few things I missed about hCG, aside from the losing weight on a daily basis part :)
Lunch was pretty much thrown together, and I didn't take much time to really plan it out. Just cooked 100 grams of large shrimp in a skillet, with a little seasoning, and some water. Then added a sliced tomato, Melba toast, and an orange. Voila. Boring, but at least it was good.
Dinner was hands down the best meal I've had in the past two days, and I wish I could have had a bigger portion. Decided to make a quick taco salad with my lean hamburger meat, shredded lettuce, and Melba toast "crumbles". It was perfect, and the fresh strawberries added a nice "desert" touch, too.

Day 5 - Round 2
While I still haven't tackled that little list of to-do's, I did have a productive day around the house. I got up and washed my hair before Willow woke up for the day (because getting to wash your hair while being a stay-at-home mom with a nearly-two year old is a feat!), washed and dried everyone's bedding, plus managed to even get a little visit in with my mom. I'm thoroughly enjoying this great boost of energy, because it makes housework seem easier, and not so much of a chore :)
I decided to have a cup of coffee for breakfast, and of course I used liquid Stevia and 1/2 Tbs. of milk to make it taste better.
Since I enjoyed my taco salad from the night before so much, I decided to have another for lunch today. This time I didn't have a fruit with my meal, but I was full enough to get back to my busy schedule.
Now, this is going to shock you. I kind of went off protocol.. I had broccoli. And it was delicious! Could've been better with butter, but otherwise I completely savored my 1 cup of steamed broccoli, and chicken tenderloins. Instead of cooking the chicken in a skillet with a small amount of water, I probably should have grilled it, but I just didn't want to take the time for my grill to warm up. Next time, I'll just have to be more patient. Since broccoli has 4 grams of carbs, I dropped the Melba toast from my meal to be on the safe side. After everyone had dinner, and the kids headed to bed, I sat down with B to watch a movie and snacked on a green apple. And it was perfect :)

Day 6 - Round 2
It's officially that t.o.t.m., so I hope my losses at least stay above 1 pound or more. My loss was the least of all weigh-ins this morning, and I'm not sure if it's to do with the menses, or because I went off protocol the day before. I guess I won't really know, unless I try having broccoli again once off of my t.o.t.m. After weighing this morning, I must have pulled a muscle in my neck while getting dressed for the day, so I hope that doesn't stick around long at all. Other than that, my cravings are depreciating, and I can stand to be around other people eating delicious, fattening food without wanting to attack their plate :)
At lunch, I decided to bake a filet of Tilapia in the oven, and added a few leaves of Romain lettuce, that I wilted in a skillet with seasoning and a little water. I added a Melba toast, and an orange, and the whole meal was very appetizing.
Since I had an evening Diaper Shower to attend (where I knew they would be making fajitas, and would have sinful things like a strawberry tree covered in chocolate, not to mention who knows what else!), I knew I better eat my meal before I went, and take my fruit with me in case the urge to eat hit. Earlier in the day when I made lunch, I seasoned an Eye of Round steak, and 3.5 ounces of asparagus, and placed them in my crockpot with enough water to cover. I cooked on high for about 5 hours, and by the time I was ready to eat, it was perfect. My steak was absolutely tender, and the asparagus was perfectly tender, too :) I, of course, added a Melba toast with my meal, and sliced and bagged a green apple to take with me to the shower.

Day 7 - Round 2
Seventh day, so no shot this morning. My neck is still bothering me, but it seems to have slacked off some, and that's promising. I had a really great time at the diaper shower for a friend of mine last night, and I did really well. Especially considering the spread of food & deserts was even more tempting than I had imagined! But I was even able to make to-go plates for my hubby and kids without drooling :)
Since we had some company drop in unannounced, and right before my lunch time, I just threw a quick taco salad together. Good thing it's so easy to make, and tasty. I decided to make a frozen strawberry lemonade to have with it, and it hit the spot perfectly.
For dinner, I decided to try having broccoli again, and this time with grilled chicken. I definitely enjoyed it a lot more with the grilled vs. "boiled". I did add a Melba toast, which I should have probably kept off my dinner menu, but I did leave out the fruit portion. Since it's my t.o.t.m. and I ate broccoli (which is completely off protocol), I'm not sure if I'll have a loss comparable to what I've been having. But, I should at least see something come off :)

Day 8 - Round 2
After this morning's weigh in being so little, I've decided that not taking my injection yesterday, the menses, eating broccoli for dinner, and getting to bed super late are all culprits to my small loss. So, from now on, it's stricter than strict. Sigh.
For lunch, I decided to bust out the cabbage. I divided a head of cabbage into 1/8 ths, and then shredded one of the portions. I steamed the cabbage with seasoning, including amino acids for a "soy sauce" flavor, and "boiled" my seasoned chicken in a skillet with a tad of water. I ended up shredding the chicken, and adding it to the cabbage for an Asian flair :) Melba toast, and tangelo on the side for a really filling meal. Man, how I've missed you tangelo.
Dinner is yet to come, but I believe I plan on having a mock hamburger. Hamburger patty, smeared with a small tad of spicy brown mustard, and topped with a slice of tomato. The rest of my tomato will be quartered up, and sprinkled with salt & pepper. I'll add a Melba toast for sure, and an apple sounds good right about now, so I may just have that for my desert afterwards. Of course, this is yet to come, so anything could happen. If my dinner doesn't go as I planned, then I'll be sure to edit this later.

Day 9 - Round 2
I felt great today; my mind and body are feeling so much clearer. Probably due to fueling my body with nothing but good, clean food. Wish I could have this feeling on the "bad" stuff :)
For lunch, I went pretty easy with my menu, since I decided to load Low and I up, and go for a visit at my mom's. Skillet shrimp mixed with shredded lettuce to make a salad, strawberries, and a Melba toast. It was okay. It did it's job, and that's pretty much all that matters at this point.
At dinner, I was fortunately already prepared. I had started a crock pot dinner before leaving the house around noon, so I wouldn't have to worry about my dinner when I got home. Steak & asparagus cooked together, with an apple, and Melba on the side. The steak was literally falling-apart-tender, and sooo delicious. Great meal!

Day 10 - Round 2
Today was definitely a very special one. After lunch, I got to go ceremony & reception venue "shopping" with my little sister, and her fiance :) All three of us had a blast, and I'm so happy for them! After getting home, everything seemed to be a bit chaotic with kids and such. But fortunately it seemed to wind down pretty fast. I will say that the pot roast I had put on earlier in the day for B and the kiddos was mighty tempting.. It also didn't help that I got a little food envious, and fell into a pitty party for myself when my meal bombed. My dad made a comment about how this week is always the hardest, and he's right. Thank goodness it's almost over. Bring on week 3!
For breakfast, I got in one cup of coffee, sweetened with Stevia and 1 Tbs. of milk.
At lunch time, I made a hamburger patty smeared with spicy brown mustard, and wilted Romain lettuce on the side. The patty was great, as always, but the lettuce just didn't appeal to me today. So, I tossed it out. I forgot to grab a Melba toast, but did manage to pair an apple with my meat, so I felt full enough to hit the road.
Ah, the bomb. Yep, it sucked. And what's even worse is after sitting down to log my meals for the day, I realized I pulled an hCG no-no. I had beef twice today. Eh, oh well. I've done worse, I guess. For dinner, I quickly pan cooked a lean steak, and threw a very small handful of raw radishes on the side. No toast, and didn't eat my fruit right away, either. Poor planning, or the lack of time to do so, played a huge factor in my meal's lack of success. I did sit down a little while later and savor one delicious tangelo, though, so all's well that ends well.

Day 11 - Round 2
Emotional day. I feel like I haven't had a decent meal in almost two weeks, and my optimism is running out. Quickly, lol. It doesn't help that it's still my t.o.t.m., and I'll be happy when that's over. Hopefully, my losses will improve, too.
Lunch was really yummy, and I felt silly for crying earlier about how my food wasn't satisfying me. I have had some really good meals, amidst the flops. I just need to take more time in preparation & planning. Anyway, I baked a Tilapia filet, and paired some cooked cabbage, a Melba toast, and a small bowl of fresh strawberries.
Dinner was disappointing. Grilled chicken, cut up into pieces, and added to shredded lettuce, Melba crumbles, and a touch of spicy brown mustard for a grilled chicken salad. The tangelo was the best part of it all. Sigh.

Felt quite a bit better today. In fact, food was really the last thing on my mind all day. So much so, that I didn't even bother to make lunch.
For dinner, I grilled a steak, and cooked a serving of cabbage in a skillet. Rounded off my meal with a Melba toast, and I'm saving my fruit portion for later, just in case.

Yes, yes, yes. I know. I'm several days behind, sorry.
At lunch I decided to make spicy beef & cabbage, with a toast, and orange on the side. It was okay, just a little too spicy. Still having to work out some kinks on seasoning ratios on a few meals. You'd be surprised at how important it is, when it's such a smaller portion.
For dinner, B grilled my two chicken tenders, and I added a sliced tomato & toast to the side. I finished it off with a frozen strawberry lemonade, and that certainly was the best part :)

Day 14 - Round 2
Today marks 50 lbs. total lost! (Round 1 & 2 combined) So, we decided to load the family up, and head out of town for a day of shopping and fun. I ate my lunch before we left, since I knew we'd be meeting up with several friends at Cheddar's, and I didn't want to set myself up for complete and total failure. I also packed a cooler friendly meal, so that I could eat dinner in case we stayed out of town longer than planned. Smart move. Very smart. I'm also ecstatic to announce that I bought a new pair of jeans to celebrate my loss, and had to go down another size not only in my jeans, but also had to go down a size in a top that I bought. Very excited was I!
Before we left, I whipped up a quick hamburger patty, and sliced cucumber chips. No toast this meal, but I did carry a sliced green apple to eat at the restaurant about an hour and a half later.
After all of our shopping was done, I munched on my meal in the car, on the way to visit my sister before heading back home. Chicken tenders (which surprisingly weren't that bad cold), handful of grape tomatoes, and a tangelo. Pretty yummy, and just in time. I waited a little too late to eat, and was feeling faint-ish before leaving Target.

Day 15 - Round 2
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today was a productive day, despite having all the babes home :) I managed to get quiet a few things done, and/or put away, but my energy seemed to wane very quickly. I really had to push myself to keep going, and I wonder if it had anything to do with not eating fruit at lunch time. My blood sugar tends to be lower at times, and it would make sense that not taking in sugar zapped me. I did seem to pick back up after dinner, at which time I made sure to eat my fruit portion.
Lunch consisted of a baked Tilapia filet, with cooked cabbage, and a toast on the side. Fish is probably my second favorite at this time, but I still am getting pretty bored with my meats at this point. Too soon, in my book. I've still got a ways to go..
For dinner, I cooked a tiny meatloaf, and paired a sliced tomato, and apple on the side. Very, very good. I took my time, and enjoyed it to the end :)

I was a bit disappointed with this morning's weigh in :( No loss, but at least no gain. I have no clue why.. I tried lowering my dosage this morning, so hopefully that helps.
Lunch was so bad, I couldn't finish it. Tuna "salad" (tuna, spicy brown mustard, salt & pepper) in a Romaine "wrap". Breadstick, and a green apple to the side. I just couldn't finish it. Maybe I'll try pan "frying" a tuna patty next time..
Dinner was good :) Broiled steak, steamed broccoli, breadstick, and a handful of strawberries. I just hope it doesn't hurt me in the morning!

Day 17 - Round 2
Today hasn't been the best day. People who I used to consider friends long ago have created a bit of drama for me and a couple of my very close friends; from out of nowhere, with no reason to do so. I seriously thought the past was the past, but apparently they haven't let things go. Stupid, really. The most ridiculous part is that in the midst of all their gum-bumping, apparently they have a tee-total blast making fun of my weight. Classy, right? While they have their laughs, and make cracks about things that don't even matter; I'm sitting back pitying them. Their lives are obviously so miserable, and insignificant. I may be fat (and working on that), but I am happy, loved, and am blessed to have great people that I call friends in my life. And I think that kills them, whether they will admit it or not.
I didn't have lunch.. I decided to go pick up my best girl friend, Neva, and we spent the day together. Way better than lunch :)
For dinner, I grilled shrimp with seasoning and a squirt of lemon juice. I added a sliced tomato & breadstick for my sides, and finished my meal with fresh strawberries for desert. Pretty good :)

Aside from getting frustrated with dinner (I thought it wasn't going to turn out appealing), today has been great :)
For lunch, I cooked mini meatballs in 1/4 cup of tomato sauce. Delicious :) No fruit, and a breadstick on the side.
For dinner, I tried to think outside the box. So, I went old school and tried to make a tuna patty, like the salmon patties I so dearly love. But hCG safe, of course. It actually turned out really well, even though it wasn't the same as the fried-goodness I used to make. I used my breadstick and 1/2 tbs of milk in my tuna mixture, and had cabbage and a tangelo on the side. Great meal :)

Busy, but great day :) Had a blast with friends and my sister Friday evening, and danced the night away. Surely that helped shed a little extra weight, right?
Too busy for lunch. So, I didn't eat any.
For dinner, I broiled a steak in the oven, and added a celery stalk. No fruit, no toast or breadstick. But it was wonderful!

Day 20 - Round 2
Today I spent a few hours whipping up some new recipes. I've just gotten soooo bored, and I had to do something before I fell off the wagon. So, I decided to try some recipes I had. I made my own mock Shake 'N Bake seasoning, Crock Pot chicken breasts, my own homemade chicken broth, and chili! Exactly the change I was needing.
For lunch I breaded my chicken breast in the mock Shake 'N Bake seasoning, and baked it in the oven. Absolutely nummy! I don't normally like raw celery, but I'm so tired of the other few choices that I have that it was a nice change. I had a bread stick and tangelo on the side, and it was perfect.
At dinner, I was salivating over the chili I had made, so I had a portion of it. I made 2 portions at once, and saved the other for the next day. Aside from having a tad too much Cayenne Pepper, it was amazing!! My portion consisted of tons of seasoning, and a whole stewed tomato with juice. Even my husband thought it was delish :) A Melba toast went perfect with it, and I opted out of my fruit.

I got on a huge cleaning spree this morning, so I'm surprised I stopped at all today to eat. Very, very productive day :)
When I finally stopped to eat lunch, I quickly heated up one of my Crock Pot chicken breasts in some of my homemade broth. Amazing! I shredded it up in large chunks, and added the chicken & broth to shredded lettuce. I had fresh strawberries afterwards, and it made a great light lunch.
At dinner I was too tired to cook, so thankfully I had my leftover chili portion from the day before. Just as good, and I was sad I didn't have more for the next day :) I didn't have a toast or bread stick, and no fruit either. Definitely making more of this asap!

Started off quite productive today, but everything went a little off schedule when the school called me and informed me I had a sick babe. So, everything got put on hold, and I went and got my oldest, and brought him home.
I didn't stop for lunch today; wasn't that hungry.
For dinner I heated up another one of my Crock Pot chicken breasts, and added grape tomatoes to the side. Also, I added a bread stick, but no fruit. Hit the spot, and gave me a second wind to go grocery shopping :)

Since once of my boys had to stay home from school today, I took it pretty easy myself. Thankfully, by lunch time he was feeling much better :)
I made another batch of chili this morning, so I decided to go ahead and have a bowl for lunch. This time I used fire roasted diced tomatoes in it, so that constituted as my veggie. I paired a Melba toast with my meal, and ate an apple for a snack a little later.
At dinner, I coated a thin chicken breast in my "Shake 'N Bake" seasoning, and baked it in the oven. I included a stalk of celery on the side, and a piece of toast to finish it off. I was going to have strawberries, but forgot to grab them. So no fruit, once again.

The weather was crazy today! Tornado warnings, and hard, heavy rain. Thank goodness all is well :) On top of all the rain, and dreary weather, I found out a classmate, and all-around great guy passed this morning. It definitely set the tone for the day, and reminded me that we never know when our last breath or chance to say "I love you" will happen. Prayers for their family, especially his wife and 1 year old little boy, are constantly on my mind.
For lunch today, I heated up a bowl of chili. Perfect weather for it :) Added a Melba to my dish, and snacked on a handful of strawberries a little later. Delicious :)
For dinner, I got brave. Since the weather was still nasty outside (my favorite kind, if I'm cuddled up in my cozy home), I decided to chop up a medium size sweet onion and cook it in a large portion of my homemade chicken broth. I then shredded a Crock Pot chicken breast and added it to the soup. Let it simmer a bit, and served it up with a toast, and tangelo on the side. Honestly, it was sooo good! Will be definitely repeating this winner anytime I'm in the mood for some soup :)

Day 25 - Round 2
Had a very low key day today with my girl, Lo. It was nice, even though I'm sure I had things to do. But, as a stay home mom, isn't there ALWAYS something that needs or could be done? Never ending :) I'm glad I just spent the day with my little shadow :)
I decided to make a tuna burger for lunch. Pan cooked a tuna patty, and topped with a slice of fresh tomato, sprinkled with salt and pepper. The rest of the tomato was sliced, and seasoned, and ate on the side. I didn't have a toast, or any fruit. I tried having a tangelo, but it didn't taste all that good, so I threw it out.
For dinner, I broiled a steak, and had a Romaine lettuce salad on the side. I actually have an hCG safe vinaigrette dressing from last round, but it's too sweet. However, I'm so very tired of having the same veggies again & again, I sucked it up and added a little to my "salad" with some lemon juice. It was okay. Toast on the side, and strawberries for desert.

Three great words: Yay for Friday! I'm so glad to have a whole 2-day weekend with my B and kids. Today was another slow-paced one. Put on a pot roast this morning for the fab four, and just tidied up things here and there. Had some errands, and shopping to do after I picked the boys up from school, and that was a royal headache. I swear someone slipped my middle child a huge dose of sugar before I gathered Kyler & Tristan from their school. I ended up only getting half of my shopping done, before having to head home and then going back to finish up once dinner was over. No idea what got into him!
I skipped lunch today. By the time I realized it was time to eat, I wasn't all that interested in making anything.
By dinner time, I was starving, and a little frustrated. Thank GOODNESS I had chili ready to go in the fridge. This time I crumbled up a Melba toast and sprinkled on top, like you would with crackers, and it was amazing! THIS is my absolute favorite meal of all :) For a snack later, I had a sliced green apple.

We went to my best friend's house for a BBQ this afternoon, and we had a blast! Tons of kids playing, great food smells, and time spent with some of my most favorite people :)
For lunch, I ate a quick bowl of chili, with a crumbled Melba toast. Never get tired of this dish. EVER. I also packed a bag of strawberries to take with us, to snack on later at the barbecue.
Before we left, I put seven 100 gram chicken breasts in my crock pot with water and tons of seasonings, and cooked them on low while we were gone. When we got home, I devoured one of them with a shredded lettuce salad & sweet honey mustard hCG safe dressing on the side. I had another toast with this meal, and snacked on an apple after kids went to bed.

Today was the best Sunday in a while :) Beautiful day, great fellowship, and getting things done around the house, inside & out.

It's a busy week around here, and I'm just so tired. Must. catch. up. on. sleep.
So, this is going to get boring for you guys. I've been having the same two meals for lunch and dinner the past 3 days. But it's just so good, I can't help myself. Chili, with tomatoes, and a toast on top. Can't get any better. Well, it could totally be better if I could have a hamburger, or any of the many things I've been craving, but as far as being in food prison, the chili is top notch :)
Dinner, I had a chicken breast, with a "salad" on the side. This time I used my hCG safe Sweet Honey Mustard salad dressing, and Melba "croutons". I also chowed down a perfect little tangelo for desert.

I'll give you two guesses at what I had for lunch AND dinner, but you'll probably only need one. I can't help that my chili is off the chain. Yes, chili and a toast for lunch. Again.
Annnd, you were right about dinner, too, I'm sure. You probably even guessed the salad part right, as well. No fruit this time, but I should have. I ran down pretty fast after dinner, since I had some grocery shopping to do later that night.

No lunch again today. What? I'm too busy to stop!
For dinner, I decided to throw a kink in my normal routine! I swear, I didn't have chili at all today. Instead, I made chicken & onion soup, and it was divine! I swear it tasted like chicken 'n dumplins without the "dumplins". I had a toast with my soup, and that was it.

Today was my beautiful daughter's 2nd birthday, and all the work of cleaning, organizing, and cooking for her party was going to pay off. The food was also going to be a huge temptation, especially all of the sweets! Fortunately, I kept it together pretty good, even though I felt like caving in on the inside.
I finally sat down and had lunch about 4:45, once everyone started munching down on the food & candy buffet. I needed something fast, so I heated up a bowl of chili, and had a toast.
Later on, around 8 o'clock, I had my dinner. I decided to have a chicken breast with about a cup of raw broccoli. I love the stuff, and wish it were on protocol. I'd have broccoli everyday. I did finish my meal off with a tangelo, and it helped to pick my blood sugar level up to normal, and got rid of that draggy feeling.

Exciting day with my mom & Willow! Us girls had a fabulous shopping trip out of town today :) My big girl is getting her first big girl bed, and all of the fun little goodies for her room that go with it!
I scarfed my lunch down a little earlier than normal, so we could get a could start on our trip. Easiest thing to eat was a bowl of chili, and I sliced an apple to take on the road.
After we got home, I heated up a chicken breast, and paired raw broccoli and an orange. Filling, but I'm ready for something different. I know I keep having the same things, despite having a few other choices. But when you're starving & tired, it's just easier to go with something precooked.

So, I had my meatloaf at dinner! Mini, but yummy still the same :) Since my meatloaf has a crushed bread stick in it, I technically had my "carb", and I also sliced a green apple on the side for dessert. You'll be so proud of me Erica for having fruit, lol.

I decided to heat up a bowl of chili, and crumble a toast ontop. Perfect for the rainy day we were having.
At dinner, I once again heated up a chicken breast, and cooked a side of cabbage to go with it. I included a bread stick, and sliced strawberries on the side, and I was full to the brim by the end! Well, it's finally here! My last injection today. I woke up with a bit of sinus pressure, and my eyes seemed puffier than normal. I completely felt like I was retaining fluid, so that may have been the reason for my *gain* this morning. By this afternoon, I felt horribly sick. Chills, fever, muscle & joint pain, headache. It was bad, and all I could do was load up on Oreganol, and lay down. Thankfully, my sweet hubby got home not too long after I and the kids did, and he took care of the kids and me wonderfully. So blessed to have him ♥ After a few hours of sleep, I woke up, and the pains & chills were gone. I felt like I had made a complete 180, and aside from a little sinus congestion, and low grade temp, I was fine. Thank you, Jesus!!
I was out of town until later this afternoon, so I didn't have lunch. But since I started getting sick while out of town, I had no appetite at all.
I was actually asleep at dinner time, but after waking up around 8 p.m., I finally started to feel hungry. I took this as a sign of my health improving, and dined on a meatloaf, sliced tomato, and orange. So, so very delicious, and I could have ate more! Buuut, I didn't.

Day 47 - Round 2
I woke up this morning with really bad sinus pressure, and my hips hurting, so unfortunately I had to cancel the spa day with my best girlfriend, Geneva. Really bummed about it, but like she said, I would not have enjoyed it. Hopefully we'll get that rescheduled soon :)
Even though my last shot was yesterday morning, I'm still having to follow the 500 calorie diet, since I still have some of the hormone lingering in my bloodstream. I'm so ready for food! LOL.

Since I was very sick & obviously retaining a good amount of fluid yesterday, I've decided that I'm going to try to maintain my weight from this morning's weigh in, 265.8 pounds :)

Day 48 - Round 2
Still feel like crap :/ And still, I must follow my Phase 2 diet. Ugh. I'd rather not eat.
After B got home from work today, he decided to go to the grocery store for a few things, since I was a sick, pitiful mess! LOL, bless him :) I offered to go, but he thought I was crazy, and should lay down. So I did, and enjoyed about an hour of uninterrupted rest.
After he and the boys got back, I was ready to eat something, anything. Fortunately, since I knew I would be starting Phase 3 the next day, I had him pick up some things for it. And being brave, I started eating some of those things about 1/2 day earlier than I was supposed to. Things like a half of a hamburger patty with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo & mustard; broccoli & ranch; and pork rinds. Yes, I know, pork. I typically stay away from pork, since it's not a healthy (clean) meat, but I make an exception on hCG, since it's the only "chip" I can have. I've been quite the little rebel this round, huh? Hopefully it won't hurt me on the scales tomorrow. Just have to wait and see!

Day 49 - Round 2
Officially Phase 3! I made it :) And like I've promised myself for weeks, I enjoyed scrambled eggs, a piece of turkey bacon, small piece of German sausage, and sliced cantaloupe for breakfast. Sooo yummy, and I'm totally excited to be having more food choices. And apparently, yesterday's rebelliousness didn't hurt me. In fact, I lost a little bit. But that's probably just the fluid that I was holding onto while I was sick, since I'm feeling a lot better this morning :)
Last round, I was just happy to make it past Phase 2, and I thought I could eat whatever I wanted, as long as it was Phase safe. But I think this time, I'm going to be more conscious of my food choices. I've come so very far, and I'd hate to begin to gain weight again, because of negligence. If I want a burger here and there, fine, but I'm going to make smarter, healthier choices, and watch my portion control. That was a big issue last time. I'd like to continue to lose weight after this round is completed, and hopefully without the help of hCG, again.

Then & Now
Remember this? Where I started the end of April 2011. Scary :/
Where I am now :) I've lost 74.6 lbs total (Round 1 & 2), and still have 45.4 lbs
to go before hitting my 120 pound goal.
Phase 3 Update - Nothing Tastes As Good As Skinny Feels
Sorry I haven't been keeping up more often since beginning Phase 3. I began the phase on February 19th, and I have ridden somewhat of a weight roller coaster since then. Fortunately, I've finally seemed to level back out. The first couple of days were great; I was eating scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, German sausage, more fruit, cheese, plus several other things well within the limits of Phase 3's allowable foods. And my weight stayed the same for those two days. Then by the third day, I noticed a small increase, and just attributed it to not enough sleep or something as minor, that we all know, affects our weight. But then, I noticed over the past week or so, that I gained a little more, resulting in my average daily weight to be around 270.2-.4. Barely within my 2 pound gain limit, at which point I would have to do a "Steak Day" in order to try to flush those 2 pounds back off. I did a few Steak Days, and nothing dramatic happened, so I resolved myself to the fact that I was just going to have to suck it up, and start doing some sort of exercising. Now, if I could just motivate myself to do it.
Ahh. Then came what I like to call my "Cheat Day".
This past Saturday, my family, mom, dad, and best friends loaded up to go bowling, and eat dinner in honor of Tibit's birthday. One of my closest friends, and just sweet person overall. After bowling a game, we headed to the ever-so-yummy Cafe del Rio, where they have homemade flour tortillas (not to mention the melted butter & honey to drizzle on them), chips, and salsa to die for. But - I did well. I didn't even touch any of it. Here's where I went wrong. I weakened long enough to order my favorite dish; their beef quesadillas. And I ate the entire thing. I knew I'd probably pay for it, but at the time I even said "I don't care! It's worth it.". Next morning, when I weighed myself, I nearly cried. All day, all I could say was "It so wasn't worth it.". 2.4 pounds were gained, and I knew it wasn't just going to slip off easily.
And so, I began the ritual of doing cleanses, steak days, and trying to get to bed a little earlier, and nothing happened. Well, a .2 pound loss isn't "nothing", but it sure isn't a whole heck of a lot, either!
In the back of my mind, I knew what I had to do. Exercise. But I needed a motivator. Something that I felt would hold me accountable, and mentally I'd be reminded, "Okay. I've got to do this.".
A couple of days ago, my mom, Low, and I went out of town for a little shopping adventure, and I picked up a pair of exercise capris while at Lane Bryant. I am absolutely in love with the way LB's Reebok line fits and feels while wearing it, and by buying actual "workout clothes" I thought they would be a great motivator for myself. Because, in all fairness, who wants to spend money on clothes they won't wear? Not this girl, for sure!
Later we ended up finding Skechers Shape Ups on sale at Marshall's for about $25, and I won't lie. I was completely giddy. LOL. Not that I'm crazy about how they look, but the fact that I had heard great things about how they work your body more by just walking, and I know that I can use all the "working" I can get :) So, there was motivator #2.
For lunch, my mom and I shared some beef fajitas (minus the tortillas, of course) that were out of this world, and a super-huge bowl of freshly made guacamole. I literally stuffed myself, and wished I had remembered to grab my food-digesting enzymes before leaving that morning! Mom had her Alpha Lipoic Acid with her, so I took one, knowing they are beneficial in weight loss/ stabilization, and blood sugar regulation. We did a little more shopping for the day, and then headed home. Going to bed that evening, I was a little nervous about how my food from that day would affect my next morning's weigh in. But again, I assured myself all that was going to help was exercising, and went to bed without any more worry.
Next morning, I was shocked. I lost almost all of my "cheat weight", and was back down to 270.4. Deep down, I knew the Alpha Lipoic Acid had helped tremendously, and this weight loss was exactly the push I needed to begin exercising. I quickly got dressed in my workout gear, and after Willow woke up and was ready, headed to my mom's house to use her treadmill! I wanted to start out low and work my way up, so I didn't overdo anything, and make it harder to continue. So, I just walked a mile. I felt great all day yesterday, and even did an impromptu workout on my mom's Pilates machine a little later that day. It's amazing that working out on that machine works my core as noticeably as it does, while at the same time relaxes me. Crazy, but true. Going to bed, I was excited to see if I'd have results the next morning, but wouldn't be crushed if I didn't see it immediately.
This morning, I'm floored once again. I'm back down to my L.I.W. of 268.6 pounds! I ended up buying my own bottle of ALA (alpha lipoic acid) yesterday, and I'm so glad I did :) So, there it is. What I've pretty much been dealing with while on Phase 3. Phase 4 begins March 12th, and hopefully by then I'll have a solid workout routine in place, so that if I would like to have a cheeseburger (which I'm going to *try* to keep at a minimum!), then I won't have to fret as much. I love this new me, and how this new me feels. Hope you're feeling just as good, or at least finding that motivation that gets you on your way to loving the way you feel.

Phase 4 Update - Gym, Tan, Supplements
Phase 4 has been a breeze in comparison to my last phase. And I have absolutely no complaints :)
I've recently, within the past couple of weeks, began walking a little over 2 miles daily (give or take a few days here and there..), and I'm in love with how I feel because of it. Yes, I may be walking on a treadmill, and watching t.v. while doing so, but hey, I'm doing it. Right? :) I also began working out at Curves this past week, and it feels so good to be back to strength training after YEARS of doing without. Word to the wise, Curves isn't a sissy-fied gym, despite only catering to women. Seriously. To be perfectly honest, I thought I'd kind of stroll in (even after years of NOT working out 3-4 days a week, 1.5-2 hours a day), and show those machines a thing or two. LOL. I was sadly mistaken. I held my own, but it wasn't as breezy as I expected.
And call me vain, lol, but I even started tanning. In a bed, that is. Realistically, I still have a good chunk of weight to lose, despite coming so far, and like my best friend has said in the past, "Tan fat looks better than paste-y fat!". My goal isn't to be the newest cast member of Jersey Shore or anything, but getting a nice base tan started will make it so much easier to make it through this summer without burning to a crisp in our Texas-sized sun rays.
My supplementing vitamins & minerals are still working wonderfully, and they also play a huge part in my feeling great, and bursting with energy. I'm currently on a 30 day cleanse (Cleanse Smart), 600 mg of Broad Spectrum Magnesium (split up morning & evening), 600 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid, and 2 Raw B-Complex supplements daily. I also usually take a couple of food digestive enzymes after meals, to help break the food down and allow my body to absorb the nutrients better.
As you guys remember, my last injection weight was 268.6 lbs. The weight I was supposed to maintain. Well, I'm happy to say that for the majority of Phase 4 I have been able to keep my weight down a pound or more than that :) Even when I splurge, and treat myself more than I should to some Nutella!

1 Year Anniversary Coming Up!
Yesterday was kind of a monumental day for me. As some of you may remember, the first picture I posted to my very first post last year had a picture of my two oldest and me at Kyler's Kindergarten Field Trip to the Zoo from April 2011. Yesterday was Tristan's Zoo Field Trip, and to see the difference in just a year's time is, well, unbelievable to me.
April 28th will mark one whole year since I began my journey, and I'm ecstatic to see where I'll be another 6-12 months from now!
Hello, This Is Me..
Being a photographer has given me the opportunity to always yell, "I take them, I'm not in them!" whenever someone points a lens in my direction. This is the most recent picture of myself, taken just a couple of weeks ago on my oldest son's school field trip. That's my youngest boy also sitting with us, before taking a ride on the zoo's train. I let my mom keep my 1 year old daughter that day so that I could enjoy the whole trip with them, and I'm so glad I did. This big ol' body just could barely keep up with these two. Looking at this pic, I can't believe we all fit on that tiny bench together, and it kills me to know that my childrens' mother is.. morbidly obese.
That's why I have taken the huge step, and put my mind wholeheartedly into removing that label. I want to be healthier, and more comfortable in my body. Honestly, who doesn't want that? For the next 6-9 months, I am on a mission to shed at least 100 pounds with the help of HCG injections and strictly following Dr. Simeon's diet protocol.
My wish is to post everyday about how I feel, and the meals I have. Whether they're tasty or downright blech. Hopefully, anyone else traveling the same road with me can glean something helpful from my own experiences, or if nothing else feel that support of knowing that you're not in this alone. I'd also greatly appreciate anyone's advice or tips that has already been through, or is going through the diet, too. So, here's to you and I, and that we may all reach our goal.
The Protocol
Plan of a Normal Long Course
125 I.U. of hCG daily (except during menstruation) until 40 injections have been given. {I have been prescribed 300 IU's, but have read where you're not supposed to exceed 200 IU, since it can cause weight gain instead of loss.}
Gorge on high fatty foods during the first two days of taking HCG, to make sure your normal fat cells are filled to capacity.
After 3rd injection, 500 calorie diet to be continued until 72 hours after the last injection.
For the following 3 weeks, all foods allowed except starch and sugar in any form (careful with very sweet fruit).
After 3 weeks, very gradually add starch in small quantities, always controlled by morning weighing.
The Diet
Breakfast:
Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or stevia may be used.
Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or stevia may be used.
Lunch:
100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed.

One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.
One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.
An apple, a handful of strawberries, an orange, or one-half grapefruit.
Dinner: The same four choices as lunch.
Misc. Information
The juice of one lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.
Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times.
In fact, the patient should drink about 2 liters of these fluids per day. Many patients are afraid to drink so much because they fear that this may make them retain more water. This is a wrong notion as the body is more inclined to store water when the intake falls below its normal requirements.
The fruit or the breadstick may be eaten between meals instead of with lunch or dinner, but not more than than four items listed for lunch and dinner may be eaten at one meal.
Anything used on the skin should always be checked to see if it includes sugar or oil. Baby oil, mineral oil, and cold-pressed coconut oil are allowed.
No variations other than those listed may be introduced. All things not listed are forbidden, and the patient is assured that nothing permissible has been left out. The 100 grams of meat must be scrupulously weighed raw after all visible fat has been removed. To do this accurately the patient must have a letter-scale, as kitchen scales are not sufficiently accurate and the butcher should certainly not be relied upon. Those not uncommon patients who feel that even so little food is too much for them, can omit anything they wish.
There is no objection to breaking up the two meals. For instance having a breadstick and an apple for breakfast or before going to bed, provided they are deducted from the regular meals. The whole daily ration of two breadsticks or two fruits may not be eaten at the same time, nor can any item saved from the previous day be added on the following day.
